Choreography applications for Today Is now open!
Unbound Dance Collective is raising funds to cover the production costs of Today Is, our fourth evening-length contemporary dance production. Choreographers and dancers will present work inspired by specific hours, minutes, and seconds, exploring both the inexorable flow of time and the distinct feeling of each day. Unbound will select choreographers through a public application process. Members of the Unbound Company will comprise the cast of each choreographer’s work.
Today Is will premiere on November 7th, 2026 at Mark Morris Dance Center. Our organizational commitment is to eliminate financial and creative barriers for semi-professional artists. This project exemplifies our mission by providing a creative structure, community support, and a rare opportunity for an entirely subsidized rehearsal process. A breakdown of all production expenses is below:
Theater Rental = $3,500
Rehearsal Space = $2,300
Photo & Video = $400
Lighting & Sound = $700
Other expenses = $600 (show day insurance & printed materials)

Unbound Dance Collective, Inc. is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit contemporary dance company based in New York City, founded in 2024 as a passion project by five friends with a range of careers and unifying drive to create and perform at a professional level. Since our our official launch in November 2024, we have established a company of 40+ dancers, hosted open workshops for over 100 individuals, and celebrated multiple sold-out performances of original work.
We look forward to continuing to offer rehearsal space, training and performance opportunities, and resources to members of our community. We can't do this work without your support. Your fully tax-deductible donation allows us to:
Pay teachers and rent studio space for our open workshops
Provide rehearsal space for choreographers and dancers participating in our self-produced performances
Purchase costumes at no expense to our performers
Cover the costs of a theater rental

A gift of any size is vital to continuing our work, and we are truly grateful for your generosity. Gifts of $50 or more will be recognized on our website and in our print materials, and gifts of $250 or more will include early access to purchase tickets for future performances (which have historically sold out very quickly!).
