When we started Unbound Dance Collective in 2024, we were overwhelmed by the dozens of studios with hundreds of individual spaces available to rent in the city. What if we wanted to hold a class with plenty of capacity for dancers, marley floors, and real mirrors? Or a hundred hours of recurring rehearsals, as cheap as possible? Our love of a good spreadsheet led us to compile this comprehensive database of NYC dance spaces, which we are now happy to share with our community. We hope it saves you time and gives you some brain space back to keep dancing.

If a studio has different rates for non-profit and for-profit bookings, we generally list the non-profit rate. Also, lots of studios have subsidized non-profit rehearsal rates of $10/hour! They all have different ways of assigning these rates (you apply and then all your bookings are at the $10 rate, or you apply every time you request and new hours are released every year or month, etc.). The “Capacity” column is either the listed capacity on the studio's website or the estimated actual capacity, whichever is smaller. Estimated actual capacity is defined as square footage divided by 50 (you can think of it as roughly 7 feet squared per human, which is reasonably comfortable for a dance class setting).
Missing data ("null" or N/A values) are generally due to the information not being readily available online, or rates being by request only.
